POPULAR READING OF THE BIBLE AND ITS IMPACT ON THE RENOVATION OF CATECHESIS IN LATIN AMERICA
Main Article Content
Abstract
Assimilating the intuitions of Vatican II, Medellín has chosen the principle of unity between salvation history and the human history (faith and life), which has brought a different staring at the poverty realities in Latin America. From the poor ones, a new way of reading the Bible was born, the popular reading of the Bible, and through it a new way of doing catechesis. Two main changes could be felt: in the pedagogical field and in the what would be taught field. The teaching pedagogy, which takes the person as a tabula rasa, was replaced by the learning pedagogy, that sees the person as the main play in the catechetical act. What was taught, previously focused on doctrine, is now replaced to the historical reality that surrounds the faithful one. More than learning themes, it’s important to read the life with the lens of the faith, taking on its challenges and struggles, in order to chance it by the power of the Liberating God.
