THE AUGUSTINE’S RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE the dialogues in the gardens and the extasis in Ostia
Main Article Content
Abstract
This work aims to analyze what could be called Augustine's mystical-religious experience described in the Dialogues written in Cassiciacum and in the famous passage from Book IX of the Confessions in which we can find the well-known and commented account of "The Rapture of Ostia." The Augustine's philosophical itinerary begins, upstream, in a philosophical conversion and culminates with the experience of leaving oneself in an ecstatic moment, in which the heart comes into intense contact with eternal Wisdom. Limiting experience, lived in the space of an instant, but which opens up to the hope of a beatitude conceived as an eternity of this instant.
