Abstract

This communication intends to continue a survey on the rites related to Vodún Sakpatá practiced in Brazil and how these rites relate to the pandemic moment by which humanity was recently affected. In order to continue the understanding of the ritual of this deity present in the Fon and Yorubá pantheons in Brazil, seeking to analyze the rites dedicated to the Vodún Sakpatá and some of its facets: Ṣoponná, Ọbalùàiyé, Ọmọlu and Jagun, so that one can interpret the cults practiced to this deity in tupiniquim soil. The methodology will be based on a bibliographic review, supported by an anthropological study through interviews with randomly Candomblé priests, according to their interest and availability, in order to justify the fact that Vodún Sakpatá is recognized as a deity linked to epidemics. Possibly, to understand the Fon cult, it will be necessary to follow in a perpendicular way to the Yoruba cult, aiming at a more comprehensive understanding of this of this deity. This communication was able to determine two rites practiced by Candomblé followers, one of them of Fon origin, the Andeyì and another of Yoruba origin, the Olugbajé.
