Abstract
G. C. Lichtenberg (1742-1799) foi um cientista experimental e professor de física, em Göttingen, Alemanha, onde exerceu intensa atividade como editor e crítico. Deixou diversos cadernos de aforismos, que só foram publicados e estudados depois de sua morte. Sua orientação intelectual iluminista o levou a professar um tipo de deísmo, o que, associado a sua verve de cronista espirituoso, resultou em inúmeras notas críticas sobre a fé e a religião. Este artigo apresenta a crítica de cinco tradutores e editores da obra de Lichtenberg e traz uma amostra de aforismos em tradução direta do alemão.
