Abstract
Partindo da obra Ciência da Cruz (Kreuzeswissenschaft), em que Edith Stein analisa fenomenologicamente os símbolos místicos da obra de São João da Cruz, este artigo pretende explicar em que consiste a metodologia da clarificação fenomenológica de Edith Stein como ponte epistemológica entre o simbolismo místico e as dimensões de natureza antropológica das manifestações religiosas na vivência da ciência da cruz ou ciência dos santos. Procura-se verificar qual é o alcance desta metodologia como uma aplicação da fenomenologia à descrição das estruturas eidéticas, operações e estruturas que, na alma, correspondem às vivências místicas simbolizadas por São João da Cruz.
