Abstract
Este trabalho tem por objetivo promover uma discussão sobre as tensões entre individualismo e coletividade nas lógicas de sociabilidade e construção identitária concernentes às religiões afro-brasileiras. Compreendendo estas religiosidades como práticas desenvolvidas sobre parâmetros “individualistas” – sobretudo no período pós-diáspora – o texto explora o seguinte paradoxo: por um lado, tal individualismo contribui assertivamente no processo de universalização destas religiões; por outro, dificulta a articulação política de seus membros. Neste sentido, o trabalho objetiva a desconstrução desta problemática a partir da reflexão sobre a clássica tensão entre individualismo e comunidade, observada aqui como ponto fundamental para o entendimento das estratégias de articulação e ocupação do espaço público por parte destas religiosidades.
