Abstract
Neste trabalho apontamos para a finalidade do ER - Ensino Religioso - e evidenciamos sua natureza como disciplina. Partimos das controvérsias do ER e as explicitamos. Na seqüência, apresentamos, em linhas gerais, nossa proposição de uma epistemologia para o ER, capaz de fornecer elementos para a consideração das controvérsias existentes sobre o assunto.
