AUTHOR GUIDELINES FOR ARTICLES

Manuscripts should:

1. Range between fifteen (15) and eighteen (18) pages, with top and bottom margins of 3 cm, left and right margins of 2 cm, 1.5 space between lines, Times New Roman 12-pt font, Word format, and can be written in Portuguese, English, French, or Spanish.

2. After the article title an abstract should be included, in the same language as your default one, containing between one hundred (100) and 250 (two hundred and fifty) words, Times New Roman 10-pt font, single-spaced, followed by five (5) keywords, separated by a full stop (or period), in sentence case.

3. At the end of the text, before the references, insert the title and the abstract in a different language than your default one (Portuguese, English, French, or Spanish), followed by five (5) palavras-chave, keywords, mots-clés, or palabras claves, separated by a full stop (or period), in sentence case.

4. The editorial standard shall comply with the requirements of the Brazilian Association of Technical Standards (ABNT). Special attention must be devoted to the following aspects:

5. Short citations (up to three lines) are inserted in the text, between double quotation marks. Long quotations (more than three lines) should figure as independent paragraphs, single-spaced and indented 4 cm from the left margin in the same font (Times New Roman 10 pt), without quotation marks.

5.1. All quotations must be followed by the author's last name, year of publication and page number in parentheses (E.g.: Martins, 1994, p. 15). A full stop (or period) should be inserted according to the quoted text. If the quote ends with a full stop (or period), it should be inserted before the quotation mark. Example: "... the whole selection process should be impartial." (Carvalho, 1977, p. 15). If the phrase does not end with a full stop (or period), i.e., only part of the sentence is mentioned, a full stop (or period) should be inserted after the quotation marks. The parenthetical citation is also followed by a full stop (or period). Example: "How to win a job". (Carvalho, 1977, p. 81).

5.2. Footnotes should be restricted to comments and / or personal remarks and are designed to provide clarification or make considerations that should not be included in the text, so as to avoid interrupting the logical reading sequence. They should be placed at the page bottom and be outnumbered throughout the article. Do not indent. The font must be Times New Roman 10-pt, single-spaced, with no space between two footnotes. The number ascribed to each note should appear soon after the end of the sentence it refers to.

5.3. References should be included at the end of the text, in alphabetical order, containing the authors’ last names, single-spaced, with no space between two references. Titles of books and journals should be in bold type.

5.4. Italics should be used only in the text, for words in a different language than your default one. As for any other purpose of highlighting information, single quotation marks (inverted commas) should be used.

5.5. Epigraphs should be typed in Times New Roman 10-pt font, single-spaced, without quotation marks, followed by its author’s name, date, and page in brackets.

5.6. Essential requirements regarding references are listed below and should be typed as in the examples provided:

• In case of two or more books by the same author, repeat the author’s last and first names in the following reference. List works alphabetically by title.

• In case a given reference is only part of a book (story, book chapter, etc.) by the same author, his/her first and last names should appear both in the part being cited as well as in the book reference. Names of the piece you are citing should be typed in regular font. E.g.: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, Name. Title of the story, chapter, etc. no bold, italics, or quotes. In: AUTHOR'S LAST NAME, Name. Book title in bold. Edition. Location: Publisher, date. Page range.
