CRITICAL LITERACY IN HIGH SCHOOL: A TEACHING PROPOSAL ON POST-FACTS AGAINST THE NORTHEAST/NORTHEASTERN IN PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE CLASSES
ABSTRACT
We understand that it is up to the school, and especially to the teaching of Portuguese, to prepare students for a careful and responsive reading of the informational and media production, which enables a critical stance at the "objectivity" of the facts, thus collaborating with the (re)construction and problematization of a sense of belonging to territoriality, when the texts for the teaching and learning of language have a region and its people as the object of discourse. Therefore, considering we know that the dissemination of fake news and post-truths can cause several damages to society in general and more precisely to individuals, this article aims to reflect on the formation of critical literacy among high school students during Portuguese Language classes, based on the work with texts, media information, and the "post-fact" culture, where the theme is the Northeast and the Northeasterners. To this end, a monthly Teaching Plan is suggested to build critical reading and foster opinion formation based on the reception of "post-facts" that take the Northeast and the Northeasterner(s) as a reference. This plan envisages discussing ethical, social, and training issues of the contemporary subject with students interested in the teaching and learning processes in Portuguese language classes to form a critical reader in the face of (own) territoriality.
