On social media, different women have shared their maternal experiences through personal narratives, creating support, negotiation and conflict networks. After a brief historical overview, the article explores: what values are disputed through these narratives; how the use of social media makes problematization of motherhood visible; and how personal narratives integrate the dialogic environment of digital culture. The corpus consists of nine posts – six in fanpages and personal profiles on the social networking site Facebook; three on maternal blogs –, along with your comments. The methodology is supported by Computer-Mediated Discourse Analysis (CMDA). The online discussions about motherhood indicate potential for spread, generated by the participants' discursive performances.
