The text offers an analysis of how subject- positions articulate for the construction of the book of reporter based on the reading of “O Nascimento de Joicy: transexualidade, jornalismo e os limites entre repórter e personagem” (The Birth of Joicy: transsexuality, journalism, and the limits between reporter and character), by journalist Fabiana Moraes. The theoretical-methodological approach is based on the analysis of discourse of french line, as postulated by Pêcheux (1995), Orlandi (2012), and Benetti (2007). We take the reporter's book as a space that allows the journalist to comment on the practice (MAROCCO, 2011, 2015; ZAMIN, 2011). We articulated two discursive formations and seven subject positions embodied by the author. Observing the subject-positions in association with a discursive formation, we present the ways of conceptualizing the journalistic practice offered by the author.
