An Analysis of Sigma Grindset Memes in Brazil Social Media

Abstract

This paper analyzes Sigma male memes in the Brazilian manosphere on Instagram. Memes serve as a cloaked humor to spread underlying bigoted and misogynistic ideologies. Combining social media usage and the Red Pill theory, this research visually examines a cluster of prominent hashtags and Instagram accounts posting Sigma memes. The findings demonstrate that the perceived male crisis manifests as a Sigma grindset, promoting misogyny, anti-feminism, nationalism, traditional values, and self-centered content.
