Abstract

The author Clotilde Perez, in a work published in 2020, gathers elements in four chapters to answer the question that gives the title to the book, "Are there limits to consumption?" The book brings together historical investigations from different eras of consumption and presents studies and perspectives on the relationship between consumption, society, and the cultural role of consumption in Latin America. The book also aims to reflect on current consumption patterns and questions the idea of happiness and progress, which in some global regions is directly linked to rampant consumption.
