EDITORIAL POLICIES FOR MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

Horizonte is a quarterly online Journal of the Department of Religious Studies of the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais that publishes articles on a broad range of topics in the areas of Religious Studies and of Theology.

This Journal, first published in 1997, aims at contributing to the improvement of the academic debate within interdisciplinary perspectives. Since 2003, Horizonte has adapted itself to the Qualis criteria of CAPES, an official Brazilian entity in charge of the coordination and evaluation of the post-graduate studies, the access to and dissemination of scientific production, the investment in the training of high-level specialists and the promotion of international scientific cooperation. Nowadays, the journal is indexed in several national and international agencies.

Papers submitted to appreciation will be forwarded to consulters ad hoc for their appraisal (Double Blind Review system). After being reviewed by referees, articles will be considered for publication based on their scientific merit, originality, relevance, validity and readability. They must have a  minimum of 15 and maximum of 25 pages (approximately 40,000 to 60,000 characters) and contain a brief and comprehensive title, abstract (not more than 200 words), 4 – 6 key words, foot-notes, references, name(s) of author(s), academic qualifications, current affiliations, mailing and e-mail addresses.

Manuscripts are considered with the understanding that they have not been published previously. Foot-notes are intended to make important considerations that should not be included in the text in order to not interrupt the logical sequence of the reading, or essential pieces of information. References, at the end of the article, should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text.

The Editorial Council Members reserve the right, in the first evaluation, to point out necessary corrections in the article submitted, returning it to the author for due compliance with the journal publishing policies.

The author (s) will be notified upon the acceptance or refusal of the article. In case of acceptance, with the indication of alterations, the article must be reviewed by the author (s) and returned for new assessment in a period of ten working days.

For e-mail submission, please annex the following statement, with each author’s signature:

“I (we) submit the paper under the title of .................................................. to be appreciated by  Horizonte, and agree that the royalties concerning to it become exclusive property of PUC Minas, being banned any  reproduction,  be it  total or partial, by any other party  or means of divulging it, printed or electronic, without the necessary and  previous authorization being formally requested and obtained from the Publishing House.”
