About the Journal

Dispositiva

Created in 2012 by the faculty of the School of Communication and Arts of PUC Minas, Dispositiva became, from the second semester of 2022, an Interinstitutional Journal of the Postgraduate Programs in Social Communication of PUC Minas and UFMG.

Mission: to disseminate and encourage reflection on relevant studies in the field of Social Communication, focusing on interactional processes and the production, circulation and reception of meanings engendered mainly in/by the media. Targeting the academic-scientific community and other interested parties, the journal welcomes articles, reviews and translations that contribute to deepening and updating the intellectual debate in the area.

 


Periodicity

From 2025 onwards, Dispositiva adopted continuous publication, with one issue per year, beginning publication of articles in January and completing the issue in December. Dispositiva publishes between 30 and 35 articles per year.

Until 2024, Dispositiva was published twice a year, with two issues per volume per year.

 

Dispositiva receives contributions from researchers with:

  • Completed PhD;
  • PhD in progress;
  • Completed Master's degree;
  • Master's degree in progress, graduates or in progress, co-authored with PhDs in progress or completed.


Submission fees and costs

The journal does not charge a fee for submitting work or for publication.

 

Open Access Policy

Dispositiva is an open access journal, which means that all the content is available free of charge, at no cost to those who access it or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or create links to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other legal purpose, without seeking prior permission from the publisher or the person who published them. Citations of articles published in Dispositiva in bibliographical references must follow the relevant regulations and ethical criteria.

 

Copyright Policy

The copyright of articles published in Dispositiva belongs to the authors, based on the rules of Editora PUC Minas. The journal has the right of first publication of the article, registered under a Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 sharing license.

The license allows the text to be shared and adapted, always with credit, without additional restrictions. Authors are asked to make a declaration of authorship and originality of the text during submission, in accordance with the terms below:

  1. By submitting to Dispositiva, authors retain copyright and grant the journal the right of first publication, with the work being published under a Creative Commons license in the form of attribution, non-commercial use and sharing under the same license (CC BY 4.0).
  2. By submitting to Dispositiva, authors are authorized to enter into additional contracts separately, for non-exclusive distribution of the version of the work published in this journal (e.g. publish in an institutional repository or as a book chapter), with acknowledgement of authorship and mention of the initial publication in this journal.

 

Digital Preservation

The journal is part of the Cariniana Network, which provides the service of Digital Preservation of Brazilian Electronic Journals via LOCKSS.

 


Scientific disclosure

Dispositiva has received funding from Call 005/2022 - Support for actions to disseminate science, technology and innovation from the Minas Gerais Research Foundation (FAPEMIG), Process APQ 02807-22, Project “From communication to scientific dissemination: social media platforms for popularizing scientific knowledge published in Dispositiva Magazine” (2022 - 2024).

It also has funds from call 008/2023 - Support Program for Scientific and Technological Publications, project APQ 04928-23, entitled “Editorial improvement and new publishing and dissemination practices for the journal Dispositiva” (2023 - 2025).

 


Evaluation

Dispositiva is classified as Qualis B3 (Collection 2017-2020) in the area of Communication and Information.

The articles are evaluated in double-blind reviews by invited reviewers. The authors receive the opinions with recommendations that can be:

accepted without corrections;
mandatory corrections;
rejection of the article;
suggested resubmission;
suggested submission to another journal.

The academic editors' group, together with the Scientific Council, are the decision-making panel for exceptional cases.
