Segurança do Golfo Pérsico em uma Nova Era de Competição Geopolítica Global
Resumo
Ao longo das décadas, a segurança no Oriente Médio tem sido influenciada tanto por fortes interdependências de segurança regionais e globais. Desde o fim da Guerra Fria, os Estados Unidos têm desempenhado um papel importante na determinação da segurança da região, com os Estados do Conselho de Cooperação do Golfo se tornando cada vez mais dependentes das garantias de segurança americanas. No entanto, o pivô estratégico dos EUA para a região Ásia-Pacífico e a crescente consolidação da China como uma potência global, fez com que a dinâmica de segurança do Oriente Médio voltasse a fluir. Este artigo emprega o conceito de complexo regional de segurança, aliado a uma lente teórica realista, para analisar como a crescente rivalidade sino-americana afeta a segurança do Golfo Pérsico ao identificar os interesses dessas duas potências no Oriente Médio e a dinâmica regional emergente.
