Abstract
Este trabalho tem o intuito de apresentar o sagrado por meio das manifestações religiosas índigenas presentes na obra Macunaíma (1928) de Mário de Andrade. Dentre as três principais matrizes religiosas brasileiras (indígena, africana e cristã), vê-se que a religiosidade autóctone apresenta um grande destaque no desenvolvimento da narrativa de Andrade e pode ser melhor percebida por meio das linguagens (símbolo, mito e rito) que a compõe e que conferem à obra uma multiplicidade de sentidos que giram em torno de uma concepção de mundo calcada na religião destes povos, a qual necessita ser melhor compreendida, interpretada e analisada no contexto da rapsódia de Andrade.
