Abstract
Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo apreender as representações da Escola Rural de Cruzeiro dos Peixotos produzidas pelas fotografias existentes no Arquivo Público de Uberlândia (APU), no período que compreende os anos de 1933 a 1959. O emprego das fotografias como fonte pode possibilitar a compreensão do universo escolar em uma dimensão mais ampliada, pois as imagens podem ser analisadas como dispositivos que servem tanto para demonstrar quanto para construir representações dos sujeitos e dos espaços escolares. Essas representações permitem apreender noções de hierarquia, relações de poder, envolvimento da comunidade com a escola, dimensões estéticas – que se voltam para os aspectos das vestimentas, dos uniformes, dos gestos e das posturas, por exemplo – enfim, detalhes que compõem a cultura escolar e que, no entanto, buscávamos apenas nos textos escritos.
