Abstract

This article presents a hypothesis about what contemporary would be like in Belo Horizonte during the Covid-19 pandemic. For this, an analysis is proposed on strategic communication from Periferia Viva, an articulation network formed by a hundred collectives that aimed to minimize the social consequences of the pandemic. The analysis brings up tensions about the temporal policy of Belo Horizonte, in order to allow the conclusion that Periferia Viva acted from a strategic communication with and through the daily life of residents of peripheral territories of the city, in order to include them in the same contemporary, which contributed to compose one of the permanences of Belo Horizonte: its modernity.
