This work aims to analyze the relationships between the editing of archive images and the performance in two films by Filipa César: Conakry, made in 2012 and Mined Soil, from 2014. The two films revolve around the trajectory of Amílcar Cabral and the independence of Guinea Bissau and have similar methods: editing as a cinematic performance. We believe that, in both cases, in addition to the performance of the body in front of the camera, there is a performance of the way in which the images – how they are articulated – relate to that body.
