Abstract

This article aims to reflect on the division between the sexes and gender disparity, emphasizing the significant role played by printed media throughout the 20th century as vehicles for disseminating stereotypes and discourses related to gender. More specifically, the research focuses on the analysis of copies of the newspaper Estado de Minas from the 1930s, 1960s and 1980s, with the purpose of identifying evidence that the periodical exerted a substantial influence on social construction processes related to femininity and masculinity.

Mestre em Ciências Sociais pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (2023), graduada em História na Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2014), também possui formação técnica em Teatro pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais (2010).
